Pryashevschina is the southern (in Slovakia) Levkovschina, whose large northern part is located in Poland. After World War II, the Czechoslovak authorities deprived the Rusyns of the Pryashevschina of the remnants of their cultural autonomy and carried out the Ukrainization of schools. As a result, out of 275 Russian (Carpathian) schools in 1948, not a single one remains today. Most Ruthenians, resisting Ukrainization, chose to send their children to Slovak schools.
