KOPIEVSKY (Kopievich) Ilya (Eliash) Fedorovich [1651, near the city of Lyakhovichi - 23 IX (4 X) 1714]. Born in the west. Belarus in the family of a small nobleman of the Reformed (Protestant) religion. During Russian-Polish. war 1654-1655 the estate of father K. was saved from ruin thanks to the patronage of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. During the campaign of Prince. I.A. Khovansky on Lyakhovichi in 1660, one boyar son from the Bezhetskaya Pyatina forcibly took 8-year-old K. to Russia. Soon K. fled from the boyar, until 1666 he lived and studied at a school in Moscow, using the patronage of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.
