Yuri Vasyutov was born in the village of Orsky Bor, Kolyvan District, West Siberian Territory. In 1932, the Vasyutov family moved to their parents' homeland - to the village of Yertom, Udor district of the Komi Republic. In 1948 he graduated from the eight-year school in Koslan. After completing the courses of radio operators, he worked for three years as a radio operator in the Mezenles trust in the Udora region. He served in the Soviet Army. After graduating from high school, he graduated from the press department of the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the CPSU. He worked in district newspapers, on radio broadcasting, director of the district House of Culture. The first poem was published in 1951.
