I-Ching is not the oldest, but undoubtedly the most revered book in China's vast philosophical library. The fortunetelling system presented in it is the fruit of a lot of accumulated experience in observing the variability of the world. Many generations of sages have spent their lives studying and interpreting the short aphoristic formulas of the mysterious prophecies of the Canon of Changes, or, as this book is commonly called in European tradition, the Books of Changes.
