The history of Russian-Finnish relations dates back over a thousand years, from the time of the Principality of Novgorod. According to the carefully cultivated liberal view of history today, both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union constantly oppressed the inhabitants of Finland - they violated their constitution, pursued a policy of Russification. However, historical memory needs to be regularly refreshed. It was the authorities of tsarist Russia who laid the foundations of the future Finnish statehood and created all the necessary structures for it. For this, we were thanked by the executions of the Russian population in Vyborg in 1918 and concentration camps in occupied Karelia during the Great Patriotic War. The book by Igor Pykhalov, the author of the bestsellers "The Great Slandered War" and "Why Stalin Evicted Peoples," is dedicated to the history of Russian-Finnish relations from the time of the Novgorod Principality to World War II.
