The book briefly covers the issues of modern development of marine low-speed diesel engines of high power and provides their technical characteristics. The main attention is paid to the consideration of the operational characteristics of modern diesel engines installed on new ships of the domestic navy, and the study of changes in these characteristics in different operating modes. The main shortcomings of diesel engines identified during their operation were noted. Considered from the operational point of view of the diesel supercharging system, analyzed the thermal and mechanical strength of parts, the possibility of using heavy grades of fuel.
