Rogers' book is neither an encyclopedia nor a guide to physics. It is not intended for the reader to absorb a large amount of information relatively quickly. Its purpose is different - to make the reader think, to reveal to him the internal mechanism of the development of science, to explain by analyzing specific problems how individual observations and experiments are completed by establishing general patterns, to show the role of inductive and deductive methods at different stages of research, to demonstrate the strength of the foundation on which the building of modern physics is based.
