Aksakov Sergey Timofeevich [20.9 (1.10) .1791, Ufa, - 30.4 (12.5) .1859, Moscow], Russian writer. Born in an old noble family. He spent his childhood in Ufa and in the family estate Novo-Aksakovo. Without graduating from Kazan University, he moved to St. Petersburg. In 1827-32 he served in Moscow as a censor, in 1833-38 as an inspector of the Konstantinovsky land surveying institute. Since 1843 he lived in the Abramtsevo estate near Moscow.
