The monograph examines the phenomenon of antiquarian discourse formed in the British Isles as a result of the activities of the London Antiquarian Society and related English, Scottish and Irish intellectuals. Research practices, original methodology, historical, social and legal views developed by British antiquaries had a noticeable impact on the development of European thought of the 17th century.
