Alexander Isaevich Solzhenitsyn (December 11, 1918, Kislovodsk - August 3, 2008, Moscow) - an outstanding Russian writer, publicist, historian, poet and public figure. He gained wide popularity, in addition to literary works (usually affecting acute socio-political topics), also historical and journalistic works about the history of Russia in the XIX-XX centuries.
