After the appearance of the famous Katyusha as part of the guards mortar units of the Red Army, German designers were simply obliged to look for an equally adequate answer, especially since the first German rocket mortars entered the Second World War before Soviet equipment - in the campaigns of 1939-1940 they were used to a limited extent to set up smoke screens. Two years later, armored 158.5-mm self-propelled MLRS, called "Panzerverfer 42," appeared in the Wehrmacht. In addition to describing the design of the Panzerwerfer 42 rocket launcher, this edition presents drawings of the main serial modifications of this combat vehicle, as well as color illustrations of its painting options.
