The textbook examines the features, specifics and conditions of the construction of settlements with low-rise buildings and the organization of mass renovation of quarters of four-five-story buildings that developed in the 1950-1960s. The first volume highlights the features of domestic and foreign formation of settlements with low-rise buildings, including socio-economic and natural-environmental problems and their impact on the use of energy-efficient techniques and technical solutions in urban planning of life-supporting low-rise buildings. To obtain practical skills in the implementation of the low-rise settlement planning project, methodological instructions are presented that systematically disclose the sequence of project actions.
