The book tells about the fate of one of the many palaces of St. Petersburg. Unlike others, it is ignored by researchers despite the fact that it is a unique monument of pseudo-Gothic architecture. This is the Chesme Palace, named after the victory of Russia over Turkey in the Battle of Chesme under the command of Count A. G. Orlov.
