The book is the first fundamental study of ancient Chinese mythology in Soviet Chinese studies. Based on the study of written evidence, as well as art monuments and archaeological finds, the author identifies the stages of development of ancient Chinese mythology. There is an evolution of myths about heroes, mythological songs, the ratio of written and oral tradition. A special place is given to the problem of plot composition in ancient Chinese mythology and the laws of transformation of its images and ideas.
