The experience of determining the state of knowledge of the bottom of the World Ocean was analyzed, since the solution to this problem allows us to understand at what level of scientific knowledge modern marine geology is. From this point of view, the structure of the ocean floor is described, as it appears from multibeam echo sounder data, marine stereo photography, geophysics, direct observations from underwater vehicles.
