The publication is dedicated to traditional crafts and crafts for the artistic processing of fabrics. The history of the emergence of artistic textiles in the folk Russian culture is one of the least studied areas of decorative and applied art. At the same time, in the territory of the present Nizhny Novgorod region, since ancient times, there have been production and artistic processing of fabric. In the XX century, many crafts were lost, but some of them have survived and continue to exist to this day. The book presents an essay on the history of artistic fabrics of the Nizhny Novgorod region, tells about Shahun weaving, a large place is given to gold sewing, original peasant festive costumes.
