The textbook covers general issues of geoinformatics, the functionality of geographical information systems (GIS), the design principles, hardware and software tools for implementation, integration of data and technologies, features of GIS intellectualization and decision support systems. Particular attention is paid to data modeling and visualization blocks, as well as applied aspects of geoinformatics with a presentation of international experience in using GIS.
