The new book by the famous journalist of the international master Vladimir Barsky is devoted to methods for finding typical matte combinations. About 1000 examples (of which 882 are for independent solution) are divided into 10 chapters, in each of which a specific figure or several figures play the "first violin." A similar classification, based on the final matte picture, was proposed by the classic of Soviet and Russian chess journalism Viktor Lvovich Henkin (1923-2010) in his bestseller "The Last Check."
