Janis Ivanov, a Latvian composer with Russian roots (he is from the family of our Old Believers), occupies a special place in the history of Russian music. The origins of his style in the symphony of Tchaikovsky, Kuchkists, Scriabin and Soviet classics. In addition, he was influenced by French romantics, Debussy and European Art Nouveau of the 30-40s, as well as the folklore of his homeland - Latgale.
