Provides brief historical information on the emergence of shipping locks and their construction in Russia. Concepts are given about various types of water supply systems for navigable locks. The development of power systems from simple at low pressure on gateways to complex modern power systems for high-pressure gateways is described. The analysis of their design features was carried out, the issues of designing various systems for feeding the chambers with water were considered. The appendix contains data on shipping locks of Russia, CIS and Baltic countries.
