The main provisions of the modern theory of stability of the working process in liquid-propellant rocket and air-jet engines of aircraft, acoustic characteristics of combustion chambers, static and dynamic characteristics of turbulent flame, theory of resonant absorbers, issues of the occurrence of regular stochastic self-oscillations in the presence and absence of heat supply are considered. A method for predicting instability is provided.
