A monograph written by a team of authors - specialists in the history of Russian architecture of the 20th century, is devoted to the design and reconstruction of cities in the 1920-1930s. The achievements of the Russian avant-garde of the 1920s. were marked by a number of innovative urban planning projects-concepts, however, the real formation of cities and towns in which millions of people lived was influenced by many contradictory factors. The ideal images of society and man, built during this period by Soviet culture, not only determined theoretical ideas about the cities of the future, but also influenced the practical approaches of architects to the formation of the architectural and urban planning environment. At the same time, the professional experience and accumulated knowledge of architects entered into a complex relationship with the state urban planning policy, its installations that changed over time.
