The collection includes the historical works of Beda the Honorable (672-735) - an Anglo-Saxon theologian, historian and chronologist. At the Council of Aachen in 836, he was proclaimed "the venerable and amazing teacher of modernity" and equated with the fathers of the Church, and in 1899 he was canonized by the Catholic Church. Bede is the author of more than 40 works, the main of which - "Church History of the People of the Angles" - brought him fame as the "father of English history." In addition to this work, all the historical works of Beda in this book are published in Russian for the first time.
