Methods of similarity and modeling are described in relation to the problems of mechanics of structural elements. Significant attention is paid to approximate modeling of mechanical systems, in which the requirement of complete geometric similarity of the model and nature is optional. Methods of modeling stress-strain state, dynamic behavior and stability of machine elements and structures are considered.
