The last US superdreadnoughts, which entered service on the eve of World War I, Texas and its twin brother New York carried ten 14-inch guns and at that time could be considered the strongest warships in the world. Naval fate was merciful to them - a quarter-century immaculate service, active participation in both World Wars, many awards ("New York" was awarded three battle stars, and "Texas" - five and the Order of the Legion of Honor). After the war, "New York" participated in nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll, withstanding without much damage two close atomic explosions (air "Able" and underwater "Baker"), and "Texas" was awarded the highest honors that a warship can receive - it is installed in the eternal parking lot in San Jacinto as open to visits to the memorial ship, being the only classic dreadnought, preserved to this day.
