The manual provides practical tasks related to the stylistic analysis of English and Russian texts of various styles: poetic, scientific (in their written and oral versions), texts of oratorical speeches, as well as examples of journalism. Considerable attention is paid to the stylistic features of the so-called syncretic genres: science fiction, a textbook on natural science discipline, popular science texts, and a fictionalized presentation of philosophical problems. The section "Translation Workshop" is devoted to the analysis of translation options in terms of their stylistic feasibility. Most of the tasks of the manual are aimed primarily at analyzing stylistic phenomena that create the genre specifics of the text, its expressive and emotional expressiveness.
