This monograph examines the mentality of French commoners of the last century of the Old Order (1661-1789) through a subjective analysis of open popular protest. The protest moods of the French are considered from the time of the Fronde - the social movement against absolutism in the middle of the XVII century - until the beginning of the French Revolution.
