The published work is the quintessence of the entire physiognomic experience and ingenious insights of Johann Caspar Lafater (15.11.1749 - 2.01.1801) - one of the key figures of the German intellectual elite of the German cultural heyday. Resurrecting the ancient science of physiognomy, Lafater fulfilled the wish of the famous English philosopher Francis Bacon. Moreover, Lafater was convinced that physiognomy is the language of angels, which means that his work is the key to a person's awareness of his highest "I" (it was no coincidence that Lafater was friends with Cagliostro).
