The book offered to the attention of readers is the fourth volume of the History of Linguistic Teachings series published by the Institute of Linguistic Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences). This volume is devoted to the linguistic teachings of Western and Eastern Europe mainly in the period XIII-XV centuries, although in some of its sections earlier periods are considered.
