The monograph in two parts of the famous Belarusian historian V.A. Krutalevich traces the path of the formation of Belarusian statehood after the Great October Socialist Revolution. The issues of state building of Soviet Belarus in the first months of its proclamation, relations with Soviet Russia, the attitude of the Belarusian Bolsheviks to the creation of the Belarusian state, the fight against internal counter-revolution, Kaiser and Polish intervention are covered. The activities of the BNR and the reasons for its collapse are considered separately.
