"Letters and Notes of Ommer de Gell," allegedly belonging to the French writer Adele Omer de Gedl (1817-1871), the "translation" of which was first published in 1933, in reality are a very skillful and not devoid of lively interest literary hoax of the son of the poet, critic and memoirist Prince. P. A. Vyazemsky Pavel Petrovich Vyazemsky (1820-1888), a famous literary historian and archaeographer. In the notes, along with a description of the Caucasian and Crimean impressions of the French traveler, the name of M. Yu. Lermontov is mentioned, which gave them the character of scandalous sensationalism dispelled by Soviet researchers in the mid-30s of our century.
