Baroness Sofia Karlovna Buxgevden (1884-1956) for several years was the maid of honor of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna and one of her close friends. Following the royal family to Siberia, she shared all the difficulties and hardships that fell to the lot of the sovereign and empress, but was not allowed into the Ipatiev House - the place of murder of the royal martyrs.
