Interest in machines and the needs of polytechnic training strongly require the creation of educational books in which questions of machine science would be covered intelligibly and even entertainingly, so that readers can easily perceive them. Such books should prepare the reader for a deeper acquaintance with all kinds of machines, foster a love of scientific and technical knowledge in him, and introduce him to the beginnings of a general technical culture.
