The book of journalist and local historian Viktor Anatolyevich Voloshin and historian Valentina Ivanovna Ratnik talks about the period of the Nazi occupation of Taganrog (an important city for Russia: Peter I considered the possibility of transferring the Russian capital to Taganrog) during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. For exactly 682 days, the inhabitants of the city suffered and suffered, experiencing the foul "delights" of the Nazi regime. But people did not accept, they fought with a hated enemy with all possible means. A Komsomol-youth underground organization was created and operated in the city, which went down in the history of the Great Patriotic War as the most massive. Based on declassified documents and previously published materials, as well as an analysis of memoir and scientific and historical literature, the authors objectively consider the military operations of the Red Army near Taganrog in the fall of 1941, the life of Taganrog residents under occupation, the selfless struggle of the city underground partisan detachment, the unforgettable days of the liberation of Taganrog in August 1943.
