The basic concepts and laws of geometric optics necessary to justify the operation of optical systems are considered. Designs of optical parts and assemblies included in these systems are described. The theory of the main types of optical systems (microscopes, telescopic systems, photographic lenses and projection systems) and some special systems (lighting, television, photovoltaic, laser systems, holographic devices and anamorphic systems) is presented.
