The monograph explores the semantics of the traditional costume of the Oirats (Western Mongolian peoples settled in Mongolia and the PRC) and Kalmyks of Russia in the context of relationships and contacts with the Turkic-Mongolian peoples of Siberia and Central Asia, as well as modern artistic traditions in the light of mutual influences and trends in the construction of ethnic identity.
