During the Second World War, long-range missile weapons were first used. These were V-1 cruise missiles and V-2 ballistic missiles created in Nazi Germany. The top of the Third Reich hoped with their help to change the course of the war in their favor. However, the missiles did not help the Nazis avoid complete defeat. The book describes how missiles were designed and built, how and for what purpose they were used. It is shown how Allied intelligence revealed the secrets of the new weapon and how the British command organized the fight against it.
