In the novel "Look at Your House, Angel" by the American writer Thomas Wolfe, the life situation is so close to the author himself that it can be largely considered autobiographical. This is not only a chain of events closely following the biography of Wolfe himself, but also a biography of the spirit, which tells about the stormy "education of feelings," about love and hatred, about passionate attachment to the homeland and flight from it, and, finally, about the creative torment of the writer. Criticism reacted very well to the novel, but in the writer's homeland, in Asheville, a scandal broke out, because its inhabitants immediately "discovered" the prototypes and perceived the novel as a libel.
