The issues of production, transmission, distribution and conversion of electric energy are summarized. The description of the main electrical equipment of power plants, transformer substations, switchgears is given. The basic provisions of the electric drive theory, issues of start-up, braking and speed control of electromechanical energy converters, as well as requirements for electric drives of production mechanisms of technological facilities of the oil and gas industry are given.
