The book of L. A. Voznesensky successfully combines memories and theoretical considerations regarding the nature and causes of the collapse of the Soviet state, as well as the essence of the system currently being created. It contains many previously unknown facts, including those gleaned from the author's personal experience, and a number of previously unpublished materials are introduced into historical and scientific circulation, especially in connection with the so-called Leningrad case.
