The legacy of Jean Polan is still completely unknown to the Russian-speaking reader. Meanwhile, along with Georges Bataille and Maurice Blanchot, the development of whose work in Russia has successfully begun, he, and above all his "Tarbes Flowers," largely determines the development of French thought throughout our century. Filling another genealogical gap between the 30s and 60s of the XX century, between surrealism and structuralism was already enough to publish this book in Russian. The attention that Polan pays to the rhetorical dimension of the literary language, that is, its pragmatics, will subsequently become an irreparable part of the foundation of the thought of Roland Barthes, Gerard Genette, Gilles Deleuze.
