For many years, physicists have been studying the smallest particles of matter, which are usually called elementary, on huge and expensive accelerator machines. But these particles turn out to be not at all elementary, but very complex. In recent years, it has become clear (as a result of a series of important discoveries by experimenters and the work of theorists) that "elementary" particles have an unexpectedly unusual structure, and their diversity is much greater than expected. The study of these new phenomena allows us to talk about the transition in the physics of the microcosm to a new circle of knowledge of the world around us.
