The purpose of the dictionary is as complete as possible, systematizing the description of the color palette of the modern Russian language, confirmed by contexts of word usage. "Dictionary of shades of color," "Dictionary of color designations," "Color dictionary" and - at the level of terminological neologism - "Color dictionary of the Russian language" seem to be quite acceptable designations of the collected material, but we considered the most natural the very working definition of "Dictionary of color," under the flag of which for several years the collection of material and its systematization were carried out.
