Building model planes is a challenging hobby. In many ways, it is more challenging than collecting things. Not that stamp or coin collecting, for example, can't also offer many hours of pleasure. But these hobbies can cost you a great deal of money, and a lot of time must be spent tracking down the real "collector's items." This isn't true of building model planes.
