This monograph provides a systematic presentation of various issues related to the propagation of waves in solids, both quite elastic and in the presence of dissipative forces and plastic deformations. A feature of the book is that its author, without dwelling on a detailed presentation of mathematical theory, which in many points is either only outlined in the form of general relations, or given for the simplest cases, pays a lot of attention to the physical side of the issue. In this regard, numerous comparisons of theoretical conclusions with experimental data, methods of experimental studies of the mechanical behavior of materials under conditions of dynamic deformations, descriptions of laboratory installations for measuring the values ​ ​ necessary for the analysis of the phenomenon are given.
