It was not for nothing that the USSR aviation anthem sang "a fiery engine instead of a heart" - the victories of any air force depend not only on the genius of aircraft designers and combat training of pilots, but also on the level of engine building. It was the lag in this industry that predetermined the failures and huge losses of the "Stalinist falcons" at the beginning of World War II. The Soviet engines managed to "catch up and overtake" the West only in the 1960s. And the leading role in this "war of aircraft engines" was played by Arkhip Mikhailovich Lyulka - the creator of the first domestic turbojet engine and "fiery hearts" for Sukhoi, Mikoyan, Ilyushin, Tupolev, Beriev aircraft.
