Unlike most Vlasovites, the author of this book did not cooperate with the Nazis for the sake of saving his own life, but voluntarily, for ideological reasons, being a conscious enemy of the Soviet regime, considering any opponent of the bloody Stalinist regime to be his ally. Already in the spring of 1942, he joined the Combat Squad of the Union of Russian Nationalists and quickly rose from platoon to captain of the Russian Liberation Army, head of the Propaganda Department of the Headquarters of the Auxiliary Troops.
