Readers are offered the first in Russian historiography study of the British military presence in Highland Scotland its role in pacifying this most restless Celtic outskirts of Great Britain in the 18th century. The focus is on the army as an instrument and participant in the socio-economic and political "civilization" of the rebellious outskirts. The work analyzes the main aspects of the British military presence in Highland Scotland, its significance for the military-political stability of Great Britain, and London's policy in Highland Scotland is considered in the context of the rivalry of European colonial powers.
