Blind from infancy, an Arab poet and thinker of the 10th-11th centuries. Abu al-Alya al-Maarri had an extraordinary vigilance of mind and heart. His philosophical lyrics are still very popular in the countries of the East. The collection includes poems already known to the reader from the translations of Arseny Tarkovsky, as well as new translations specially prepared for this publication. Al-Maarri's prose is represented by the ostentatious work "Message of the Kingdom of Forgiveness."
