Information on physical and mechanical properties of soils, basic laws of soil mechanics and their application to SSS calculation of bases are given. The main methods of determining settlement of foundations, stability of slopes and retaining walls are considered. General provisions for calculations of foundations and underground structures using numerical methods are given.
